Interflex extend competition deadline for care home competition to 14th December
A competition offering a prize fund of £5000 worth of PPE to care homes in the East Midlands has been extended by two weeks to give busy staff more time to enter. The new deadline for entries is Monday 14th December.
The competition is being run by Interflex and its sister company Pinnacle who now manufacture a range of PPE as well as automotive components at their Nottinghamshire site. The prize is being offered in recognition of the challenges posed to the care sector by the second wave of Covid-19.
How to win PPE
To enter, care homes in Leicestershire, Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire and Rutland are invited to nominate their care home heroes who have gone above and beyond for residents in their care during the pandemic.
There will be nine runners up who will receive an individual prize of £50 worth of Buy a Gift vouchers for a range of experiences from afternoon tea to a supercar driving experience, plus an overall winner who will receive a £100 voucher. All ten winning care homes will also receive £500 worth of PPE in the form of masks, visors and aprons.
£5000 worth of PPE
As part of the prize fund, the company has donated over £5,000 worth of PPE including 10,000 type 2 face masks, 1,000 face visors and 5,000 aprons. As part of their £500 prize, each winning home will receive 1,000 disposable face masks, 100 visors and 500 disposable aprons.
Jim Griffin, MD at Interflex explains why the competition has been extended. “We owe a great debt to the people who have kept the region’s care homes running in tremendously difficult circumstances throughout the pandemic.”
He continues: “We wanted to run the competition to try and support this community, but recognise that, with the second wave of Covid peaking and the introduction of measures to enable visitors into care homes for the first time in months, staff may well be stretched to breaking point. And so, in order to enable as many homes to enter as possible, we decided to push back the closing date.”
Made in Britain
The three-ply surgical style face masks, types 2 and 2R manufactured on-site all conform to European standards and offer 98% bacterial filtration with a 40-hour wear time. The face visors are made from PET plastic with an adjustable headband and foam pad.
Although Interflex is known for manufacturing NVH parts and sealing solutions for the automotive industry, the company has diversified during the pandemic, setting up Pinnacle PPE to manufacture face masks and other items of PPE at its factory.
The company has recently invested in new equipment which enables them to produce half a million face masks every week as well as a new packaging machine and upgraded production area to ensure a clean and safe manufacturing environment.
