So, we’re delighted to announce that we’ve developed and launched Ocean, a new recycled material. Ocean is already being successfully used in vehicles, but its scope goes far beyond the automotive industry.
What is Ocean?
Ocean is a lightweight, mouldable material made from a minimum of 75% recycled polyester, designed to efficiently reduce noise and vibration. As you’d expect given our history supplying noise, harshness and vibration solutions for the automotive industry, the product is currently being used for NVH solutions in cars, in applications such as headliners and doors.
Where else can Ocean be used?
As a high-performance acoustic absorbent material which has already attracted a lot of interest from the automotive industry, we are very excited about Ocean’s potential to branch out into providing noise and vibration solutions in other industries where weight and noise can cause issues, including rail, roadways and construction.
One of the clear advantages of using Ocean over certain other traditional NVH materials is its lightweight properties. These make it ideal for use in a wide range of industries where manufacturers are keen to reduce the weight of the products they produce using a modern, sustainable and lightweight material.
Reducing carbon footprint
As well as being manufactured from a minimum of 75% recycled polyester, Ocean is also recyclable, meaning unlike many other materials, it won’t be destined for landfill at the end of its impressive lifecycle.
As with many industries, the automotive industry is heavily reliant on imports from as far afield as Asia, so this product represents a real opportunity for manufacturers to reduce their carbon footprints as well as choosing a sustainable product.
A green vision for the future
